The Knowles Camp in Westport
Owners: Phil & Eileen Knowles
A bit south of the yellow Victorian cottage is our one story Adirondack-style camp.
This comfortable summer house is an early pre-fab - manufactured in Massachusetts by Hodgson Houses and shipped up by railroad. They used a photo of it on the cover of their catalog. It was expanded in the 1950's to make the living room and two of the bedrooms more spacious.
We are on a small bay, about a mile from Westport village. The view two miles across Lake Champlain of the Vermont Green Mountains is - priceless!

There's a large picture window facing the lake, sky lights, attractive contemporary furniture, newly restored windows, a laundry, a new grill, and steps right to the beach. Sandy beach in front, good swimming, and good fishing!
We are one hour from Lake Placid, just over an hour from Burlington, and two hours from Montreal. Other outstanding attractions in the area include Fort Ticonderoga, Adirondack Museum at Blue Mountain, The Wild Place (a new museum in Raquette Lake) and Ausable Chasm.
History: Phil's mother was born in Westport; her father, Dr. James Worman, who was appointed U.S. Consul in Munich by Teddy Roosevelt, owned the land where you find the Pontius Cottage and Knowles Camp today. We have been enjoying Westport, Lake Champlain, the Adirondack Mountains - and this house - for a lifetime. We think you will enjoy it too.
